Meet The Woman BehindAnchored by the Sea

Hi, I’m Valerie, the owner of Anchored by the Sea Permanent Jewelry! When my children were born, I made the decision to step away from work, so I could focus on raising them and being present for those precious early years. For the last five years, I have been a stay-at-home mom, and I wouldn't trade that time with my children for anything.
I always knew that when my children were old enough to be in school full-time, I wanted to return to work. I also knew I didn't want to simply go back to what I had done before. I wanted this next chapter to be different.
I wanted to find something fulfilling—something that gave me a sense of purpose, allowed me to be creative, and still allowed me to be present for my family.
I spent a long time trying to figure out what I was truly passionate about and what I genuinely enjoyed doing. I knew I wanted to build something of my own, but I was still searching for the right thing.
Then came permanent jewelry.
I had experienced permanent jewelry myself with my best friend and I absolutely loved the idea behind it. I loved how something as simple as a bracelet could represent a friendship, a special memory, or a meaningful moment in someone's life. There was something so special about creating a piece you could wear every day and that could hold a story.
That experience sparked an idea and Anchored by the Sea was born.
My Biggest Supporters
My family, friends, and my husband, Michael, have been such an important part of my journey. They have supported me through all the different ideas and dreams I've had while trying to find what truly makes me happy.
Having people who believe in you and encourage you to chase something fulfilling is such a blessing. I'm so grateful to have them by my side as I continue building Anchored by the Sea.
Michael is not only my biggest supporter, but he is also helping me bring this dream to life. From creating my website to helping at events and all the behind-the-scenes details that come with running a business, he has been right there with me every step of the way.
And of course, Michael and our children are my biggest cheerleaders. Their love, encouragement, and support mean more to me than they’ll ever know.

A Little About My Journey
I received my Bachelor's degree in Communications and New Media from Long Island University. The classes and experiences I had throughout college gave me a foundation that would one day help me build a business of my own.
To all of my professors: thank you! All that hard work finally paid off!
My love for the ocean is also a huge part of who I am and where the inspiration for Anchored by the Sea comes from.
I grew up on Long Island, New York, and spent summers with family in California, so I was fortunate to spend much of my childhood near the ocean. I loved swimming, being at the beach, and simply being near the water.
That feeling of freedom, happiness, and connection to the ocean has stayed with me throughout my life. It's a big part of what I wanted to capture in this business.

A Little More About Me
Outside of Anchored by the Sea, I enjoy spending time with my family, getting lost in a good book, and finding creative ways to make everyday moments special.
I’ve always loved the ocean, creativity, and the little things that bring people joy. Whether it’s discovering a new favorite book, creating something with my own hands, or enjoying time with the people I love, I find inspiration in the things that make life meaningful.
These little pieces of who I am are part of what makes Anchored by the Sea so special to me.
The Heart Behind Anchored by the Sea
I chose the name Anchored by the Sea because it represents so much of what I love.
The ocean has always been a place where I feel happy and at home, while the idea of being "anchored" represents being grounded and connected to the people and moments that matter most.
That's what I hope to create through this business.
Permanent jewelry isn't just about a bracelet, anklet, necklace, or ring. It's about the story behind it.
Maybe it's a bracelet you share with your best friend. Maybe it's a charm that reminds you of someone special. Maybe it's a piece you choose simply because you love it.
Whatever the reason, I want your jewelry to represent something meaningful to you.
My hope is that every time you look down at your piece, you're reminded of a person, a place, a memory, or simply a moment when you chose to do something special for yourself.
Thank you for being here, for supporting my small business, and for allowing me to share something I'm so passionate about with you.
I can't wait to meet you, hear your story, and create something beautiful together.
With love,
Valerie
